A case of the Mondays...

Whew, it has been a while since I last posted!  Not from a lack of want, but from a lack of time!  The past few weeks have been absolutely crazy!  I have been recruiting staff, visiting churches, interviewing staff, planning for retreats, running retreats, and promoting summer camp, not to mention taking a class which has me reading almost 150 pages a night just to stay on pace with the lectures!.  Last week, I was out of the office all week, except Friday (and I had a retreat last weekend!)

Coming into this week, I thought I would see a little bit of a break.  My plan was to come in the office on Monday early, do some prep work for the week, then hit the road and visit some churches.  There was a different plan for me though, I think I missed the memo!  On my way to work, I ended up in the ditch.  As you can imagine, it threw my whole day for a loop!  I had to cancel all my appointments and reschedule them.  For those of you who know me, I do not do well with unexpected plan changes.  I was upset to say the least!

It was not until I came home that afternoon when I realized the blessing being in the ditch was.  I had a little bit of time to myself!  It was so needed!  I have been so busy getting ready for camp I forgot to take time for me.  God had to throw me into the ditch to remind me it is OK to take time to rest.  It is so important for me to rest, especially since I am in ministry.  But, I think rest is important for all of us.  God did create the sabbath for us.  I know I need at least one day a week to rest and relax.  This week, I have nothing scheduled for Saturday; and I am SO looking forward to rest!

How about you?  Do you take time for yourself?

  1. There then remains a Sabbeth rest for the people of God. For anyone who enters into God's rest, rest from his own work just as God did from His. Let then us make every effort to enter that rest. (Hebrews 4:9-11) And yet His work was finished since the creation of the world (Hebrews 4:3)
