Growing up, I loved hanging out at my Grandma's house. She always had candy or treats, or some other sweet thing to spoil my brother and me with. One thing does stick out to me about my trips to my Grandma's house though. It is this very picture above. It was hung on the wall next to her table for years. It did not make much of an impact upon me as a kid, but now it holds a little more meaning for me since she is gone. This picture reminds me of her, and it reminds me to be thankful for everything I have.
Last night at youth group the message was on being thankful. The main passage was out of Luke 17:11-19 where Jesus heals 10 lepers but only one returns to thank Him for what He did.
This stuck out to me because we are approaching Thanksgiving. We are approaching the time of year when we are almost forced to think about what we are thankful for. It is very easy for me to go about my daily life without offering thanks to people, or to appreciate what others do for me; even the small stuff.
My goal is to be a more thankful person. Over the next week, it will be my goal to thank as many people as possible for what they do for me. I will seek to be a thankful and not a thankless person. So it starts right here and right now!
Thank you to all of you who read what I have to say. I am honored to have a little bit of your day. Thank you!
How about you? What are you thankful for this season?
In His service, Crazy Pete
